Construction site: Albioma storage dome at the Moule power plant in Guadeloupe, France

The Albioma company is continuing the conversion of its electrical energy production units overseas, with the use of 100% biomass fuel. The coal which was until now used in addition to local biomass (valorization of bagasse, a fibrous residue from sugar cane) will be replaced from 2025 by certified wood pellets.

This conversion requires the construction of pellet storage domes. And after having participated in the construction of the first dome on the Port of Jarry in Guadeloupe, the 4 domes on the Port of Pointe des Galets and the 2 domes of the Bois Rouge factory on Reunion Island... here we are returning to Guadeloupe for the construction of 2 domes, a first on the Moule power plant, then a second on the Jarry port site.

Thank you to our customers from GTM Guadeloupe as well as the American company Dome Technology for their trust. (Client: GTM Guadeloupe)

Construction site: extension of the Porto-Vecchio marina and fishing port, Corsica, France

After several months of production of prefabricated concrete elements, the reinforcements of which are assembled in our SAMT factory in Saint-Chamas, our teams are currently on site to install all the keying reinforcements as well as the slabs of the future platforms of the new Marina and fishing port of Porto-Vecchio, in Southern Corsica. For almost two years now, the port of Porto-Vecchio has undergone an immense transformation. Reception capacity of 800 rings, movement of the various reception and service units, creation of new places and 1,000 parking spaces... The port of 2027 will no longer have much in common with that of Today. (Client: Terélian, Vinci Group)

Construction site: Larivot power plant, Guyana, France

In recent weeks, our teams have started installing the frames for the high walls of the factory building of the EDF PEI Larivot power plant in Guyana. Thanks to complete prefabrication on the ground, integrating all the inserts and all the openings, the production of these 14m high sails is carried out at a sustained pace (one sail every 2 or 3 days). At the heart of the power plant, this building will house the 7 engines running on liquid biomass, which will provide up to 120 MW of electrical energy to the Guyanese territory.

Today, with 66% of its energy produced by renewable energies, notably thanks to the Petit-Saut dam, Guyana is already the French department with the highest rate of renewable energy. The Larivot power plant meets Guyana's ambition to reach 100% in 2030, or even before. It will support the economic and demographic development of the coast and will secure the needs of the island of Cayenne. (Client: Group: Nofrayane / Sogéa / VCGP / Vinci DomTom)

Construction site: development of the A7/A54 junction, Salon-de-Provence, France

Our teams are currently working on the development of the junction between the A7 and A54 motorways. This receives significant traffic from Marseille (98,000 MTJA) and Lyon (66,000 MTJA), which is constantly increasing. In addition, the current configuration of the A54 junction ramp towards the A7 south, with a single lane of traffic, generates significant congestion, particularly during peak hours and during the summer period.

The main structure will allow traffic to be restored on the RD68 within a few months with a single-span Bow-string Bridge spanning the A7. After the C0 abutment a few weeks ago, we have just finalized the installation of the C1 abutment header, a beautiful prefabricated beam with almost 12 tonnes of reinforcement! (Client: Bouygues TP)

Construction site: Ariane 6 rocket, Guyana, France

Yesterday, July 9, 2024, Ariane 6 made its first flight. An emotion for us who are proud to have participated in this adventure. Given the thrust, imagine what had to be built underneath! We carried out the entire supply and installation of the civil engineering reinforcements. The work lasted 40 months, from the end of 2015 to the beginning of 2019. In total, 6,870 tonnes of reinforcement were supplied and installed. Just like 20,456 couplers. More than 60 “armaturiers” were employed on the peak site. (Client: Eiffage)

Ariane 6, which is a little higher than Ariane 5 (62 meters) but retains its diameter (5.4 meters). Its mass is between 530 and 860 tonnes depending on the version. Like Ariane 5, the new launcher has two stages using cryogenic propellants (liquid oxygen and hydrogen). The first stage is powered by an optimized version of the Vulcain rocket engine (135 tons of thrust) and the second by a new, more efficient Vinci engine (18 tons of thrust) that can be restarted. At takeoff and during the first two minutes of flight, thrust is provided primarily by solid propellant thrusters with an average unit thrust of 350 tons.

Construction site: new Larivot bridge in Cayenne, French Guiana, France

An important milestone has just been reached on our site: the first river pile has been finalized. These river piers are made using an unusual method: they are based on 4 cased piles on which a prefabricated waterproof concrete box is suspended, then pushed into the water by sliding along the tubes. The box is finally restrained to counter Archimedes' thrust. Once dry, the support is carried out in several phases with the sole, then one to several pile lifts and to finish the header. Operations are carried out using a fleet of barges dedicated to each task. (Client: Joint-Venture Soletanche-VCGP-Dodin Campenon Bernard)

Construction site: new Larivot bridge in Cayenne, French Guiana, France

Things are moving near the supports of the new bridge over the Larivot, in Guyana. We are currently working on the piles, the river footings as well as on the C0 abutment behind which the launcher will soon be assembled for the installation of the prefabricated segments. The bridge has 19 piers. His particuliarity ? All the reinforcements of the tidal zone (over +/- 6 m) are made of stainless steel. (Client: Joint-Venture Soletanche-VCGP-Dodin Campenon Bernard)

They dream of gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics

The SAMT has proudly supported, for several years, the amateur cycling club Salon Cyclosport. We had the pleasure of welcoming last week, to the Saint-Chamas headquarters, their two champions: @Mathilde Gros and @Rayan Helal-Oly. A lovely moment of sharing with our colleagues, with whom they were able to discuss their life as a high-level athlete, their preparation and their dream of Olympic gold at the next Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A big thank you to them.

Construction sites: building activity on the islands of Guadeloupe and Saint-Martin

Our company supplies and installs reinforcements for buildings on the French islands of Guadeloupe and Saint-Martin. These two territories have a very high level of seismicity, we have to implement complex frameworks, guaranteeing the final solidity of the structures. We are currently working on different projects: college 600 and college 900 in Saint-Martin, Baie-Mahault penitentiary center, as well as several housing programs in Guadeloupe. Construction site: ITER, Cadarache, France

2014-2024… 10 years separate these two photos seen from the sky and 10 years that we are proudly participating in the construction of the ITER Tokamak. One of the most ambitious projects in the world in the field of energy. 35 countries are engaged in the construction of the largest Tokamak ever designed, a machine which must demonstrate that fusion (the energy of the sun and stars) can be used as a large-scale energy source, not emitting CO2, to produce electricity. Since 2014, we have completed the following civil engineering lots: TB Alpha, TB08, TB03, TB11, TB18, LTCC, TB13… and we hope to be involved in the following future lots: TB20 and TB22 (Clients: VFR, Monsud, Nuvia-GTM, Comsa, Delkia et Chapus) (Photo credit: ITER Organization)
