How do you install 38 tons of reinforcement for a 26-meter pile cap in just 2 days?
Here’s SAMT’s step-by-step recipe for success:
• Adapt the initial reinforcement plans to allow for prefabrication
• Model all changes in 3D for validation by the client, engineering office, and project manager.
• Cut and shape the rebar in our St Chamas (South of France) facility.
• Accurately survey pile locations and starter bars on site.
• Prefabricate two cages (2.30 x 2.30 x 13 m), each weighing 19 tons.
• Load both cages onto semi-trailers using a 100-ton mobile crane.
• Cross France to arrive on D-Day in Nantes.
• Install both cages through four large-diameter piles in half a day.
• Connect the cages the next day.
• Ready for formwork and concrete!
A great example of coordination between design, workshop, logistics, and field operations. We’ll do it all again in late August for the second pile cap. Hats off to all our teams for this seamless execution.
