Turning waste into energy… and to get started, putting a lot of steel into concrete!
Since returning from the summer break at the end of August, our teams have been fully mobilised on the construction of the new Vitré Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant.
This is a major project: the new facility is being built right next to the existing plant, which will remain operational throughout the construction works. Once completed, it will be able to process 70,000 tonnes of waste per year, converting it into energy in the form of steam for local industries, heat for the district heating network and electricity.
For SAMT, work got off to a flying start with an impressive raft foundation for the GTA building alone, requiring nearly 80 tonnes of reinforcement steel.
And this is just the beginning: our reinforcement installation work will continue until mid-summer 2027. In total, more than 700 tonnes of reinforcement steel will be installed by our teams on this project.
A major industrial and environmental project where our expertise is contributing, in its own way, to turning waste into resources.
👏 Congratulations to our teams on this great start, and thank you to GTM Ouest for their trust.
